I am SO blonde sometimes! I tried a recipe last night that I got here.
Chili Coke Roast:
1 roast
1 can Coca-Cola
1 pkg. onion soup mix
1 bottle chili sauce (I use BBQ sauce)
Place all ingredients in crock-pot and cook for 7-10 hours depending on size of roast. The meat will flake apart when done. Serve over mashed potatoes.
I had walked all over the grocery store at least three times, looking for chili sauce…. I finally found some red chili pepper sauce and decided that is what I needed. So yesterday morning I poured the whole bottle into my crock pot, with the coke and onion soup mix. I added the meat, turned it on, and went to work.
Let’s just say, that was NOT the chili sauce they meant. The entire dish was too dang spicey to eat! I felt like such a moron! *laughs* My husband worked hard to try to salvage the dinner, and we all ate some, though we had big glasses of milk and a salad with ranch dressing to go with it. I had two bites and gave up. DH and my son both ate theirs. What troopers!
On another note, I found out that the company I’m working as a contractor (aka temporary) for has posted the same position as a permanent job. I updated and submitted my resume this morning. I’m on contract with them for about 4 more weeks, and then, if they want to, they could hire me permanently. I’m not thrilled about working full time again, but it does help pay the bills.

That’s too damned funny. The chili sauce you wanted is typically found in the asian section.

New name for the recipe is: Hot Roast.
There’s still some left, I may eat it tomorrow, since I won’t be home til late tonight. Yum.
Oh, and Margaret, I think the chili sauce she GOT was in the Asian section. The stuff she probably wanted is like the chili sauce you’d put on hot dogs. I think. The stuff she got was Sriracha. Try it sometime!!

@Shelley: Learning lessons is a good thing.
You aren’t the first, nor will you be the last to make the same mistake.
At least you didn’t put salt in lemon pudding like my mother did.

Maybe she thought it was sugar?

@shelley: She did. It was the last time she put salt and sugar in the same kind of container.
