Blissful Shelley

The sweetest bit of serenity there is

I am SO blonde sometimes!  I tried a recipe last night that I got here.

Chili Coke Roast:

1 roast
1 can Coca-Cola
1 pkg. onion soup mix
1 bottle chili sauce (I use BBQ sauce)
Place all ingredients in crock-pot and cook for 7-10 hours depending on size of roast. The meat will flake apart when done. Serve over mashed potatoes.

I had walked all over the grocery store at least three times, looking for chili sauce…. I finally found some red chili pepper sauce and decided that is what I needed.  So yesterday morning I poured the whole bottle into my crock pot, with the coke and onion soup mix.  I added the meat, turned it on, and went to work.

Let’s just say, that was NOT the chili sauce they meant.  The entire dish was too dang spicey to eat!   I felt like such a moron!  *laughs*  My husband worked hard to try to salvage the dinner, and we all ate some, though we had big glasses of milk and a salad with ranch dressing to go with it.  I had two bites and gave up.  DH and my son both ate theirs.  What troopers!

On another note, I found out that the company I’m working as a contractor (aka temporary) for has posted the same position as a permanent job.  I updated and submitted my resume this morning.  I’m on contract with them for about 4 more weeks, and then, if they want to, they could hire me permanently.  I’m not thrilled about working full time again, but it does help pay the bills.

Great finds!

Saturday there was a community garage sale in the neighborhood where we live.  We decided to walk around and see what we could see.  I’m so glad we did!  One house had 3 VHS cassette racks that could be mounted to the wall, that will be nice once we find somewhere to hang them, since we have boxes full of tapes.  Another house had this cool liquor dispenser that we got for $1!  We’ve been having lots of fun with it.

The best thing we found though, was a Roomba for $5!!  It works perfectly, and the floor is getting vacumed every day while I play with it.  *laughs*  Maybe this will help cut down on our sinus problems since the floor will be getting cleaned more frequently.

I did my TTapp on Friday, and got my measurements and photos done.  I was so sore Saturday that I could hardly move.  I didn’t exercise Saturday since I was so sore, and Sunday I did the MORE workout, because the BWO+ seems to aggravate my knee.

60 Day Challenge

Today starts the 60 Day Challenge of T-Tapp.  For those who aren’t familiar, check out http://www.ttapp.com.  It is my favorite form of exercise.  It’s non-aerobic and easy on the body, yet still makes you sweat and itsn’t as easy as it looks!  People have lost lots of inches doing this, plus it helps with posture, and keeping all those organs in the right place.  I’d love to win a free trip to the retreat that they have every year in October!

I’ve been having pain in my right side, like a cramp.  The doctor sent me for an ultrasound of my gallbladder, as well as a Hida scan, both came back normal.  She wants to send me to a gastroenterologist, but I’m not sure I want to go.  I just started eating more fruits and veggies yesterday, hoping that if I cut out most of the “crap” that I eat, I’ll feel better.   I’m just not sure…I keep thinking, what if it is more serious, and not something that eating better will help.

Random Thoughts

I tend to think of things to blog about throughout the day, but by the time I get to my computer to write, I’ve forgotten most of them. Maybe I should start using my voice recorder more often.

I’ve had a headache all day, woke up with it, took 4 Target brand migraine relief pills over the course of the day, and ended up taking two Hydrocodones before it was all said and done. Now I’m sleepy and drugged, but still cant fall asleep. I’ve been taking Ambien every night for almost two months, and when I don’t take it, I lie awake most of the night. What an endless cycle! I won’t take one tonight, because of the hydrocodone I just took.

Lately I’ve gotten into reading peoples daily blogs. I use bloglines to keep updated on each one. They vary from crafts, to saving money, to friends blogs, to trying to get organized. I find it fascinating what other people write, and wonder if others find my entries to be even the least bit interesting.

Some people just have no couth!

Last night we went to Ruth’s Chris for dinner.  So we were sitting there, enjoying our appetizers, when in comes a loud crowd of people in t-shirts and shorts.  Our table was upstairs, but I could look over the balcony and see the as they stood waiting for a table (actually, tables, since there was at least 10 0f them and tables had to be slid together for them).  Their voices were carried up to us and it was extremely distrupting to our nice quiet dinner.

Anyway, they were brought upstairs and shown to their table.  We just couldn’t understand how they could show up a nice restaurant dressed in t-shirts and shorts, but then it just got better.  They had three teenage girls with them, who ended up sitting at their own table.  One girl then proceded to take her flip-flop off and pick at her toes!   Not only that, but she was crawling around on the floor under the table like a baboon.  The adults did nothing, heck, they hardly turned their heads to check on the girls throughout dinner.  Another of the girls was tipping her chair back on two legs, yelling across to her dad.  I was just…… well I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I wanted to get up and walk over to their table and address the parents, but I couldn’t think of a way to address them nicely, so I decided to try and ignore them.

New habits are hard to start!

I’m not on CPAP anymore. The loaner machine had to go back, and my insurance won’t cover getting one because I don’t have a severe enough problem.

I’m not working, haven’t since December 19th. The thought of going back to another mundane, “9 to 5″ job gives me knots in my stomach. I’m enjoying being home, getting the house cleaned up little by little, and finding new, interesting websites to read!

Didn’t sleep very well, took the mask off after a couple hours.  It is just too noisy and leaks too much.  We watched Lost, had sloppy joes from the fit for life cookbook, and sweet potatoe fries.  The fries were too spicey, but Tim seemed to like them.  My swift LT for her was sent today.  I was bad and played at gaia most of the day, after Ann told me about it.  Fun!  Also called Dr. Richter and left a message asking for an appointment. TJ got three signatures, and liked the idea of getting 30 minutes of computer time per signature that he remembers to get.

This morning on my way to work, while sitting in traffic, I watched helplessly as a deer ran across a 4 lane freeway and got hit by a large jeep type vehicle.  It was a very disturbing image that took a long time to get out of my mind and stop the continuous replay.

Yay!

I started a new job on Wednesday last week, 11/12/08.  I absolutely love it, so far!  The people are great, the facilities are much nicer than that last place, and we get free ice cream!  LOL  They even bring snacks to each person in the afternoon, healthy snacks, free!

We watched the movie “Saw V” on Saturday night.  It was pretty good but not as good as the rest of the series.

Oh, I had a sleep study on the night of the 12th as well, but I won’t know the results until Dec. 2nd.  I’m also getting a root canal on that day.  Yuck.

Saturday is my son’s 17th birthday, and we leave for Des Moines, IA on the 25th.  I can hardly wait!
